6am

We don’t have an alarm clock, as Olivia [Jessica’s twoyear-old daughter] wakes us up. She and Reggie [her five-year-old son] are always so hungry in the morning. I make Liv porridge, and toast some bagels. Andy [36, Jessica’s husband] and I have a Nespresso coffee.

7.30am

I let them have a little bit of a play – Reggie loves Lego – then we get teeth brushed and ready for the day.

8.30am

It’s been important to keep some structure, but not be too rigid with it because life is different for all of us at the moment. Exercise keeps me sane and we’re fortunate to have a gym in the garage, so after breakfast I head in and go on my Wattbike.

9am

Reggie has some learning to do from school, so we mix it up with playing – he loves making cardboard and Sellotape creations.

12pm

I make jacket potatoes with tuna for the kids. Andy is good at brunch and makes us an omelette or shakshuka.

1pm

The kids have a climbing frame and mini hurdles in the garden, so it’s been really nice to spend a couple of hours playing outside – we live right by the Peak District so our garden looks out on to the moors. .

4pm

We’re trying to keep in touch with our parents, who are in their 50s and 60s, as much as possible – my mum and dad are separated and live in Sheffield. My dad has asthma and lung problems, and we FaceTime so he can see the grandkids and keep his mood up. Then we get some music on (random stuff like Elvis and The Beach Boys) and have a dance in the kitchen to burn off energy.

5pm

The kids eat earlier than us, then have a good splash in the bath. I put Liv to bed around 7pm and read her a million stories.

7.30pm

Andy and I have a Mindful Chef meal like salmon with harissa and hasselback potatoes. We watch something on Netflix to switch off from all the madness that’s happening. We just saw Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, about an American footballer sent to prison for murder. I have a sweet tooth, so I’ll have some Dairy Milk.

10pm

I put on Desmond & Dempsey PJs that Andy bought me and Estée Lauder eye cream. I used to read before bed, but since having kids as soon as I get into bed, I’m asleep.

My favourite things

My personal mantra...

When I was training full time, it was, ‘Be the best you can be,’ and put maximum effort in. Now, it’s just about enjoyment, it’s so easy to get bogged down. It’s about having perspective.

My ultimate guilty pleasure...

Andy makes amazing chocolate brownies (a BBC Good Food recipe). They are so rich and gooey.

The podcast I can't turn off...

Sh**ged. Married. Annoyed by comedian and actor couple Chris and Rosie Ramsey. It’s hilarious! It’s about relating to other parents who have busy lives. It makes me laugh out loud.
