In 2014, soul singer Toni Green found herself in the studio with French soul-blues guitarist and singer Arnaud Fradin. And a new project was born.

Soon the Memphis soul diva, who is reminiscent of Tina Turner, and the band Malted Milk were recording an album.

The resultant album, Milk & Green, is a mix of blues, funk and soul cover versions from Mary J Blige, Tommy Tate, Garnet Mimms and Ann Peebles.

Here they perform an acoustic version of Al Green’s Take Me to the River

Toni Green has enjoyed a successful career in the world of the soul music. After a stint with vocal quartet Imported Moods, she joined the roster of producer Willie Mitchell, alongside Al Green, Ann Peebles, Otis Clay and Syl Johnson on Hi Records.

She then honed her craft with Luther Ingram and the Doobie Brothers before doing background singing for Dennis Edwards, Betty Wright, Millie Jackson and Luther Vandross.

The album Milk & Green is out October 30th.
