When it comes to self-parody, no one is better than James Blunt....or, as Blunt himself would probably point out, no one has more material.
Across the years, deriding the You're Beautiful singer's work has become a popular sport for music snobs the world over – but the former British army officer, who has just been announced as the support act on pal Ed Sheeran's new world tour, has learnt how to beat his critics their own game. Or at least how to join them.
His secret? Deep down, the best-selling artist probably just isn't that worried about his detractors, safe in the knowledge that he's got a solid fanbase, and a string of best-selling albums under his belt.
“Whoever reviews my album for your paper will not be brave enough to say they like it – even if they think it’s the best album they’ve ever heard, because they are too worried about how they are going to be perceived. But it’s OK, I’m cool with that," he recently told The Telegraph.
