In what could be the beginnings of a script for a feel-good film, a casting announcement has appeared online that has caused much excitement among pop fans.

Earlier this week casting director Stuart Burg posted a open call for fans of "Britney, Adele, Justin, P!nk, Katy, Selina, Taylor, Robyn, Justin" to find performers for a new musical co-created with none other than hit-maker Max Martin.

The elusive Swede, who was born Karl Martin Sandberg, has written some of the biggest hits of the past two decades, including 22 US chart-toppers such as Britney Spears' ...Baby One More Time, Roar by Katy Perry, Taylor Swift hits Bad Blood, Shake it Off and Bad Blood and The Weeknd's I Can't Feel My Face.

Little information has been given about the musical, although it would seem that it would rely on Martin's existing hits rather than offer something new from the mogul. The casting note reads: "The musical uses his incredible catalogue of songs as inspiration."

The musical, which is "in the final stages of development", has an original story written by David West Read and directed by In The Heights and Jersey Boys alumnus Luke Sheppard. The musical will open in July 2019, with a view to transferring to the West End.

Martin's more recent efforts include Adele's Send My Love (To Your New Lover), from her record-breaking album 25 and the Ariana Grande album Dangerous Woman.
