Two dynamos of grandiose power ballads, one of whom is in the midst of an only semi-ironic pop culture resurgence, could be about to collide in spectacular fashion. According to reports, Celine Dion and Adele may be working together after the Hello singer was spotted backstage at Dion's O2 Arena gig last night.

During the gig, Dion spoke of her adoration for the star and sung an improvised number in which she claimed that she had been calling Adele throughout the day, only for the Tottenham-born not to pick up. She also said that she wishes to move to London, and asked the audience: "If I do, do you think if I move here I can meet Adele and you can help fix this for me?"

But Dion reportedly didn't have to look very far to find her. According to The Sun, Adele made a secret visit to the Dion gig, with the pair meeting backstage and discussing a possible collaboration.

"Adele made the trip to meet her idol and the music legends both embraced in a private room backstage before the gig and told each other how much they loved each other," a source said. "Adele said she would love to sing with her on stage at some point but she would be too scared."

Dion has previously confirmed that she is an enormous fan of the singer, but confessed that she hasn't reached out in the hopes of a collaboration, as it could be considered "tacky".

"I love her," Dion told Toronto Metro in 2013. "I'm taking hot tea everyday and I'm hoping she's going to pop up and have tea with me.

"I haven't got the guts to ask for a duet. I just would love to meet with her. If I see her, I would be star-struck and tell her that I'm her number one fan. Every soundtrack that I do, I find ways to sing her songs through my warm-up but I wouldn't be so tacky as to ask her to sing with me."

Dion has also sung several Adele tracks in her live shows, including a rendition of Hello during one of her Vegas gigs last year and, back in 2012, her own spin on Rolling in the Deep.
