French red wine recommendations for the autumn season

French red wine recommendations

Indulge in these French red wine recommendations, suggested by Master of Wine Pierpaolo Petrassi – perfect for the approaching autumn season

As summer ends and the leaves turn, the wine-lover’s palate makes its seasonal adjustments, too.

Autumn is a time of retreat to warmer, cosier interiors, so to insulate us from the chill of these cooler, longer evenings, here I have chosen three excellent French reds to rekindle the fires – a classic Bordeaux, a richly textured Châteauneuf, and a mellow, juicy pinot noir from Burgundy.

Each is guaranteed to reward the palate with warmth and mellow fruitfulness, and they’re perfect with big red meat dishes, too, such as rib of beef and roast lamb.
