‘You’ll never see him coming’: Shane Black's new Predator movie gets a teaser image
The Iron Man 3 writer-director promises a sequel, not a reboot

We already know that Shane Black’s forthcoming Predator movie isn’t a reboot – back in 2014 the screenwriter and Iron Man 3 director told Collider: “Why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine?”
But, since then, pretty much everything else about the film has been shrouded in mystery – including its probable release date, cast, and plot.
Now, however, it looks as if things are finally kicking into gear. Thanks to a post on 20th Century Fox's Facebook page, we have a title – the simple “The Predator” – an effective tagline – “You’ll never see him coming” – and a first teaser image, shown below.
While Black is best known for his screenwriting credits (he famously created the Lethal Weapon franchise) his connection with the Predator series dates back to the original 1987 film, in which he acted as Hawkins.
His first foray into directing was in 2005, with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which was followed (after eight years) by Iron Man 3. His project as director is The Nice Guys, a dark comedy starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling relased later this year.
The Predator, co-written by Black and Fred Dekker, will be the fourth film in the Predator series (following on from 1990's Predators 2 and 2010's Predators) and is not expected to overlap with the Alien vs Predator crossover franchise.
Instead, according to Screen Rant, there's been speculation that the new film could try and tell the story from the point of view of its titular alien trophy hunter.
