Jessica Ennis-Hill calls Obi-Wan Kenobi an inspiration
Wookiees would win the shot put in a Star Wars Olympics, and Jedi would be great jumpers, says British athlete in new video

The Olympic and World Champion athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill has named the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi as an inspiration to her in a new video celebrating Star Wars and British filmmaking.
Speaking of the new film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ennis-Hill says she identifies with Daisy Ridley’s Rey: “as a young athlete coming into sport I always knew that I had a talent and a natural ability. But it was about having people to guide me and help me bring out the best in my performance”.
“The advice that I’d give to young female athletes who to fulfill their potential is know what you want to achieve, having a goal and working really hard towards it.”
Using her sporting knowledge, the 29-year-old British athlete imagined a Star Wars Olympics in which wookiees would stand the best chance of winning the shot put. She would tip Jedi for jumps, sprints, hurdles and the javelin.
The video was made for the Star Wars: Made GREAT in Britain campaign, which is part of the government’s wider GREAT Britain campaign. It is produced in association with the Industry Trust for IP Awareness: a UK copyright education body that champions creativity and copyright laws. The Moments Worth Paying For campaign encourages audiences to keep the cinema industry alive by paying for the experience of watching movies on the big screen.
