In the latest video diary from the set of the 24th James Bond film, Spectre, director Sam Mendes gives an insight into the shooting of the film's opening sequence.
Shot in Mexico with a cast of 1500 individually outfitted extras, the film's first scenes will take place during a Day of the Dead procession.
“I wanted the audience to be dropped right into the middle of a very, very specific, very heady, rich environment," says Mendes. "Everywhere you look there’s colour and detail and life. We’ve built floats and maquettes, the costumes are extraordinary and the craftsmanship is amazing."
The opening sequence is one of the most highly anticipated parts of any James Bond film. Perhaps the best loved of all time is the one which opens The Spy Who Loved Me, in which Roger Moore's 007 skis off the edge of a cliff, before opening up a parachute emblazoned with the Union Jack.
Spectre will be released on November 6 2015
