The first teaser trailer has been released for Carol, Todd Haynes's Oscar-tipped drama about two women who fall in love in Fifties America.
Starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara as the lovers, Carol is set to be this year's gala screening at the London Film Festival on October 14.
Blanchett plays Carol, an unhappily married socialite who falls in love with Mara's Therese when they cross paths in a department store.
Both actresses have been tipped as favourites for an Oscar nomination. Earlier this year, Mara won the Best Actress award at Cannes Film Festival, in an unusual co-award with Mon Roi actress Emmanuelle Bercot.
In his five-star review of Carol, Telegraph film critic Tim Robey said: "Cate Blanchett, especially, somehow leaps over her own highest standards with a subtlety that’s little short of phenomenal."
Carol is released on November 27
