Batman v Superman: Wonder Woman and Doomsday glimpsed in new trailer
Watch Ben Affleck's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman - plus Wonder Woman - duke it out in the new trailer for Zack Snyder's superhero epic

Earlier this week we saw a brief clip of Superman brutally unmasking Batman in what appeared to be an underground jail cell. And now, DC and Warner Bros have released a second full trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which gives us more footage of "the greatest gladiator match in the history of the world.”
First shown on US TV during Jimmy Kimmel's talk show, this is the first fresh footage from the film since San Diego Comic-Con in July, and this trailer gives us the first look at the hero’s civilian alter egos in action.
Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) attends a Gotham City red carpet event in his capacity as reporter, where he sees Bruce Wayne (ben Affleck) emerge from a black Aston Martin for the first time. When the two are alone together, Kent asks “what is your position on the bat vigilante in Gotham” and Wayne gives him the smallest, most ambiguous hint of a smile.
Two trailers had already been released setting up the conflict between Bruce Wayne and the Kryptonian Kal-El. The rivalry emerges in the aftermath of the destructive Battle of Metropolis in 2013’s Man of Steel. “Civil liberties are being trampled on in your city,” says Kent. “People living in fear… He think’s he’s above the law.”
This effectively offers us the first look of Superman’s side of the story. In the previous trailers, the reasons for Batman’s grievances are set out: the collateral destruction in the Metropolis as well as his mistrust of Superman’s limitless powers which have so far gone unchecked. Wayne counters kent in a similar vein, criticising the metropolis newspaper The Daily Planet, at which Kent works, for praising “an alien who could burn the whole place down”.
But the tension of this stand-off is cut-through by Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg as a jumpy, long-haired Lex Luthor (who, it has been revealed, will lose his hair later in the movie).
But the two heroes have a more dangerous enemy than each other, it seems. The biggest reveal of the trailer is the appearance of Doomsday, the previously unseen baddie who “kills” Superman in the comics.
Out of the corpse of Man of Steel villain General Zod, Luthor creates a hulking grey beast with laser eyes capable of setting whole streets on fire. It is lucky a previously unseen Wonder Woman (Israeli actress Gal Gadot) is there to protect the two heroes with her shield. Gadot will also be starring in a standalone adventure rumoured to be set during the Second World War.
The Zack Snyder-directed film will also feature Jason Momoa’s debut appearance as Aquaman – unseen in this trailer. Momoa, who is most famous for playing Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, will star in his own feature film, Aquaman, in 2018. He will also appear as Aquaman in The Justice League Part One – which will be released in 2017. It is also rumoured that Ezra Miller may make an appearance as the Flash.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is due to be released in March 2016.
