His been touted as a possible contender for the next James Bond – and, if the trailer for his next movie Bastille Day is anything to go by, Idris Elba is more than comfortable with action-heavy roles.
In the film, he plays a tough CIA agent, who teams up with a fleet-footed pickpocket (played by Game of Thrones star Richard Madden) after the latter steals a bag that contains a little more than he bargained for, and inadvertently places himself at the heart of an international conspiracy.
The film – as its title suggests – is centred around the Paris Bastille Day protests.
Released in UK cinemas on Aoril 22, it's directed by James Watkins, the man behind the Daniel Radcliffe-fronted ghost drama Woman In Black, and the 2008 horror film Eden Lake.
Eden Lake actress Kelly Reilly can also be seen in Bastille Day, alongside Charlotte Le Bon.
