1976 Yamaha 49cc FS1-E
The Yamaha ‘Fizzie’ as it is affectionately known has been elevated to cult status in recent years thanks to a new wave of nostalgia among its now middle-aged original owners looking to recapture lost youth. Reintroduced in 1987 after briefly falling from favour, the earlier models such as this are considered the more desirable as they are in unrestricted form and capable of about 45mph flat out. Not bad for a humble 49cc.
It's one of a number of interesting motorcycles going under the hammer at the Bonhams Alexandra Palace sale this weekend. Read on for more facts and photographs.
