Pret A Manger has launched a delivery-only dinner service as it seeks to boost flagging sales in lockdown.
The sandwich and coffee shop chain will trial the service, called Dinners by Pret, at 30 shops in London from Thursday through its delivery partners Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.
The menu will include focaccia-based pizzas, rice bowls and mac and cheese, with festive options including pigs in blankets.
It also includes the widest range of vegan dishes Pret has offered to date such as a sweet potato chilli hot rice bowl and Thai sticky aubergine curry.
Briony Raven, UK food and coffee director at Pret, said: “We’ve worked hard to take some of the nation's most beloved comfort foods and give them a Pret twist including our new focaccia pizzas.
"Not only have we created new items to add to our dinners menu range but we have expanded the delivery services to be from 30 shops with our delivery partners."
It is the latest attempt by Pret to attract customers and keep the tills ringing during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pret has suffered a sharp drop in sales since the crisis hit as people continue to work from home, contributing to a steep decline in the number of visitors to central London. The majority of Pret’s sites are located in the capital.
