Wednesday’s horse racing is dominated by all-weather meetings, of which there are three alongside a brace of National Hunt cards. The action gets under way at Wetherby (11.45am-3.30pm), with more jump racing from Hereford (12.05-3.50). There's afternoon all-weather Flat racing at Lingfield (12.00noon-3.40) and Dundalk (2.05-5.45) before Kempton (4.00-7.40) brings down the curtain.

Our expert’s Wednesday nap runs at Kempton and is hoping to benefit from a drop in trip from seven to six furlongs in her attempt to lose her maiden tag.

Horse racing tips: Kempton 4.30

The filly BLACK BOX has made the frame in three of four starts (twice each on turf and all-weather) and she may be able to get on the scoresheet for trainer Robyn Brisland in this novice stakes.

The daughter of Iffraaj outran odds of 40/1 when finishing third on her debut at Sandown (7f, good) in August, form franked when the winner Double or Bubble won on his next start off 85. But she didn’t appear to relish the heavy going when fourth at Catterick over the same trip in September.

Black Box ran her best race over 7f at Kempton late last month, her third-place finish since boosted by the pair that finished in front of her, and she filled the same berth on her last outing at Southwell. She proved no match for the experienced winner Model Guest there, the winner having been rated in the 90s last year, and appeared to tire in the closing stages on that Fibresand debut.

She looks sure to benefit from the drop to 6f, while a return to the Polytrack is also a positive. Rae Guest’s filly Fauvette could be the principal market threat, having finished in the money on all three starts, but she’s had chances to win over this trip and may again have to settle for a supporting role.

Tip: Black Box @ 11/4 with bet365

The course-and-distance win here by PRINCESS MIDNIGHT 23 days ago marked the first triumph at Hereford since 2016 for Dorset-based trainer Colin Tizzard.

It was far from the greatest of races she won, but it was another step forward in what has been a promising start to her chasing career. She was winless over hurdles but has quickly taken to this discipline, with promising efforts at Wincanton and Plumpton preceding the win here.

Robbie Power was on board for the first time in that contest and retains the ride. Princess Midnight jumped accurately and carved out a decent advantage before comfortably holding off Wisecracker.

A rise of 4lb in the ratings is far from prohibitive and she can be another winner for her in-form rider, who has a recent strike-rate of 26 per cent.

Tip: Princess Midnight @ 2/1 with bet365

Horse racing tips: Wetherby 2.25

Philip Hobbs’s team are in form and, following a relatively pleasing third on his chasing bow at Ascot last month, SMARTY WILD may be able to give the Minehead handler another success at Wetherby.

Four times a winner from nine starts over hurdles, Smarty Wild jumped well enough in the main on his chasing introduction, though perhaps his finishing power was blunted somewhat by a mistake when moving into contention from the rear as he attempted to give weight to the front pair. He should be able to build on that now under former champion jockey Richard Johnson.

Some Reign crashed out over course and distance at the final jump last month when set to score, handing the spoils to the re-opposing Ballyvic Boru. They are both noted here, while Billingsley has the form to be in the shake-up (3-4 over fences last season) but does tend to need a run back.

Tip: Smarty Wild @ 5/1 with bet365
