The Stayers Hurdle odds tend to present a confusing ante-post betting picture at this point in the campaign as it’s often a Plan B for many of the horses high up in the betting. Benie Des Dieux, Honeysuckle and Monkfish are all more likely to head to other Cheltenham Festival races this season.
One horse that does already look Stayers’ Hurdle-bound is Roskana. Dan Skelton’s mare comfortably disposed of reigning Stayers’ champion Lisnagar Oscar to win the Grade 2 bet365 Hurdle at Wetherby on 31 October.
Lisnagar Oscar’s 50/1 shock victory in last season’s running, when 4/6 favourite Paisley Park ran a stinker for which no excuse was readily available, only serves to add to the intrigue ahead of the 2021 edition.
It’s anybody's guess where last season’s Mares Hurdle 1-2, Honeysuckle and Benie Des Dieux, will turn up at the Cheltenham Festival. However, there are several talented horses in their first season outside novice company for whom the Stayers Hurdle 2021 looks the most likely target.

Stayers Hurdle 2021 latest news and betting analysis
Paisley Park remains ante-post favourite in the Stayers’ Hurdle 2021 odds despite not yet racing this season, but he has been pushed out from 6/1 to 7/1 by bet365. Roksana, McFabulous and Thyme Hill have all shortened in the betting since our last update.
Roskana is now 14/1 for the Cheltenham Festival’s three-mile Thursday showpiece, but she was getting 13lbs from Lisnagar Oscar when winning the bet365 Hurdle at Wetherby and will need to prove she is equally competitive when receiving a less substantial weight concession.
McFabulous has come in for sustained support following his victory in the Persian War Novices Hurdle at Chepstow in October. He has yet to tackle a trip in excess of 2m 5f in his career, or step out of novice company to take on seasoned hurdlers.
Unlike that duo last season’s Albert Bartlett fourth Thyme Hill has been attracting support without a run to his name this autumn.
