The Champion Chase promised to be the race of the 2020 Cheltenham Festival before injuries to first Altior, then Chacun Pour Soi robbed National Hunt fans of a blockbuster three-way collision with Defi Du Seuil, who then bamboozled odds-on punters by finishing fourth.
Along with the eventual winner Politologue and last year’s surprise Arkle heroine Put The Kettle On all three are once again among the leading ante-post fancies for the 2021 edition, when Altior will bid to win his third Champion Chase at the ripe old age of 11.
Put The Kettle On advanced her claims as a serious Champion Chase contender after battling to victory in the Grade 2 Shloer Chase at Cheltenham’s November Meeting.

Queen Mother Champion Chase 2021 latest news and betting analysis
Put The Kettle On has halved in price for the Champion Chase at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival after battling to land the Grade 2 Shloer Chase at the Cotswolds track.
The compact six-year-old scored her seventh win in eight races and her third successive victory at Cheltenham when rallying late to deny Duc Des Genievres, with Defi Du Seuil pulled behind them.
Du Des Genievres, who won the Arkle in 2019, has also been trimmed in to 20/1 in the Champion Chase odds having impressed on his first run for Paul Nicholls. However, Defi Du Seuil has been eased out to 12/1 with a reason for his flat showing yet to emerge.
Perhaps most telling, the bet365 traders also chose to shorten Chacun Pour Soi and Altior at the head of betting - hinting that they saw no obvious dangers to the leading duo in the Shloer.
