Tottenham vs Manchester City predictions and tips: Premier League preview and odds
We are backing the Tottenham or draw double chance at 10/11

We are expecting goals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as part of our Tottenham vs Manchester City betting tips

Tottenham can send a message to the rest of the Premier League that they are serious contenders for the Premier League title when Manchester City visit north London on Saturday evening.

Spurs are in a rich vein of form and will go top for the night if they can beat City, with third-placed Liverpool hosting leaders Leicester City on Sunday night.

City have 12 points from seven games, one fewer than Spurs, and are in need of a win as they are already six points adrift of Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Tottenham vs Manchester City predictions

Tottenham have become a solid outfit under José Mourinho in the Portuguese’s first full season in charge and are grinding out results. City have not hit their stride in terms of attacking prowess this season, scoring only 10 in seven league matches. They have drawn three of their last five in the league and we can see the spoils being shared on Saturday night.

Spurs can extend unbeaten run

Tottenham possess the longest unbeaten run in the Premier League at seven matches after their 1-0 home defeat by Everton in their opening game.

A win against City would be their fourth in a row in the top-flight, the first time they would have achieved that feat since February 2016, and they have an excellent recent home record against City.

In the past five seasons Spurs have won four and lost one of their home league meetings against City, and have also inflicted a defeat on them in the Champions League. In fact, their tally of 24 Premier League wins against City is second only to Chelsea, who have won 26.

Mourinho’s side have lost one of their last 14, a 1-0 Europa League defeat by Anderlecht, but City can not be discounted. They have lost only one of their last 12 in all competitions and Pep Guardiola is a master at getting the better of Mourinho, his record of 10 wins from 23 meetings in all competitions being the best of any coach against the Portuguese.

The 3/1 for Tottenham to win is extremely tempting going on form but we prefer the more conservative option of backing a Tottenham or draw double chance.

Tip: Double chance – Tottenham or draw @ 10/11 with bet365

Exciting first 45 on the cards

Spurs have scored in the first of half of their previous three home games but have shown they are still fragile at the back.

Mourinho’s side went ahead against Newcastle United before conceding late in a 1-1 draw, and they threw away a 3-0 lead against West Ham in the second half to walk away with only a point.

Tottenham’s previous home game was a 2-1 win against Brighton, but they still conceded, and if this City team are on form they are clinical enough to make the home defence pay for any mistakes.

City’s four away league games this season have all featured at least one first-half goal – three of them for Guardiola’s men. In their most recent outing against Liverpool the Reds took the lead after a fast start, leaving City having to chase the game early on, which we can see Spurs trying to replicate.

Over 0.5 first-half goals is 3/10 but we think there will be more and are backing over 1.5 in the first 45 minutes.

Tip: Over 1.5 first-half goals @ 11/8 with bet365

Goalscorers galore

There will be plenty of attacking talent on display on Saturday night and goals are a given when the sides meet. There have been 21 meetings since the last scoreless draw in August 2010.

Harry Kane is the obvious choice with the Spurs talisman being involved in 23 goals in 14 matches in all competitions this season, scoring 13 times.

Gabriel Jésus impressed against Liverpool with his slick equaliser and has been involved in 11 goals in 11 games in all competitions, scoring eight, including three in his last three appearances for City.

You can back both to score at any time at 9/2, with Kane at 11/8 and Jésus 6/5 on their own, but we are going for the Spurs striker to find the net in 90 minutes.

Tip: Harry Kane to score at any time @ 11/8 with bet365

Tottenham vs Manchester City odds

Tottenham are outsiders at 3/1, with the draw also trading at that price, while the bookies fancying City to get the away win and three points as odds-on 4/5 favourites.

Tottenham team news

Tanguy Ndombele returns from injury to increase Tottenham's midfield options but Jose Mourinho is set to be without Matt Doherty and Erik Lamela for the visit of City. Steve Bergwijn is available despite being sent home from Netherlands duty due to a supposed lack of fitness.

Tottenham predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon; Sissoko, Hojbjerg; Bale, Lo Celso, Son; Kane.

Manchester City team news

Nathan Ake and Raheem Sterling both picked up injuries on international duty but while Sterling could still play a part, Ake looks almost certain to miss out. Oleksandr Zinchenko is also a potential absentee while Fernandinho and Benjamin Mendy may need longer to get to full fitness. Sergio Aguero could return to the squad after using the international break to work on his fitness following a hamstring injury.

Manchester City predicted line-up (4-3-3): Ederson; Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Rodri, Gundogan; Torres, Jesus, Foden.
