Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester United predictions and tips: Champions League preview and odds
We are backing a home win in Paris

Our expert turns his attentions to France for his three Paris Saint-Germain tips with a convincing home win expected

Manchester United travel to the Parc des Princes on Tuesday for their 2020/21 Champions League opener against Paris Saint-Germain in the pick of this week’s fixtures.

PSG came agonisingly close to winning the Champions League for the first time last season but lost out to Bayern Munich in the final, while United last won the competition back in 2008 and their supporters are itching for more glory.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester United predictions

PSG will be eager to go one better after last season's final heartache and they look good value to kick off the new European campaign with a win over Manchester United, who have been hard to predict so far this term. United recovered from their embarrassing 6-1 defeat to Tottenham with a 4-1 win over Newcastle, but the quality in PSG’s team will shine through and a home win is our prediction.

PSG to overcome United test

After losing their first two Ligue 1 games, PSG have roared back to form, winning the next five matches to climb to second in the standings, just two points behind leaders Lille.

During this run, they have scored 16 goals - an average of just over three per game - while they have conceded just once, in the 6-1 thrashing of Angers at the start of October.

Thomas Tuchel's men have won their last four home Champions League matches, scoring 11 and conceding none in the process, and they look primed to extend that winning record to five.

However, although United are not expected to get the victory, they should have enough to get on the scoresheet as they have netted 15 times from six matches across all competitions this season.

The Red Devils have also only failed to score once in their last five away games in the Champions League and they should be able to keep that scoring run going.

Attacking prowess on show in French capital

PSG boast one of the most formidable attacking trios in world football, with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Mauro Icardi scoring eight Ligue 1 goals between them so far this season.

Mbappe and Icardi both netted five times in the 2019/20 Champions League, while Neymar was just two shy of that mark, and the trio could have a night to remember against a United defence that still looks shaky.

The Red Devils have shipped 12 goals from six matches across all competitions this term, including three in the opening-day defeat to Crystal Palace and six in the thrashing at the hands of Tottenham.

United have not kept a clean sheet in their previous four away matches in the Champions League and questions are being asked of the likes of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw.

Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men can be brittle at the back, they do make up for that at the other end of the pitch and they slotted four past Newcastle United on Saturday.

Solskjaer has the likes of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Anthony Martial to call upon while new signing Edinson Cavani, who joined on a free from PSG, will be eager to net against his former employers if fit.

Over 3.5 goals has come off in four of United's six games this season, while that same scenario has happened in PSG's last two matches, which ended 6-1 and 4-0.

PSG on a roll

After a tricky start to the campaign, PSG have really started to assert their authority and they look a tempting price at 6/4 to be leading at both half-time and full-time.

Backing Les Parisiens to be winning at half-time and full-time would have come off in their last four matches and there is every chance this could happen again against a United side that has started slowly recently.

The Red Devils have been behind or level at the break in their last three Premier League matches and they could be in for another difficult night in Paris on Tuesday.
