Manchester City vs Arsenal predictions and tips: Premier League preview and odds
We are backing Arsenal or draw double chance at 7/4

The Premier League returns with a massive clash at the Etihad and we have three Manchester City vs Arsenal predictions and tips

It's master against apprentice when Pep Guardiola sends his Manchester City side out to face Mikel Arteta's Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

City won their opening game of the 2020-21 Premier League campaign but have picked up just one point from their subsequent two outings.

The Gunners, meanwhile, have started positively with three wins from four fixtures as they look to mount a serious challenge for a top-four spot this term.

Manchester City vs Arsenal predictions

Arteta and Guardiola are currently 1-1 for wins against each other. City won their last league clash against Arsenal at the Etihad comfortably 3-0. The Gunners recovered from that loss and beat City in the FA Cup semi-final 2-0. Arsenal’s solid start and City’s indifferent one mean the confidence is with the Gunners going into this one and they should have enough to come away with at least a point.

Gunners to fire

After a slow start under Arteta, Arsenal have made positive strides, the squad appearing to have taken on board the Spaniard's philosophy, and some shrewd summer business means they are in a promising position for the campaign ahead.

In contrast, City, who relinquished the league crown to Liverpool last season, are still struggling to hit the incredible standards they have set in recent years.

The absence of both Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus has hit them hard, while Guardiola is still trying to solve the puzzle of which combination of defenders works best for the team.

City looked to be raring to go for 2020-21 when beating Wolves 3-1 in their opening match. However, that win has been followed by a 5-2 loss at home to Leicester and a 1-1 draw at newly-promoted Leeds.

Arsenal haven't fared too well at the Etihad in recent times, failing to win since 2015 and losing on each of their last four visits.

However, Saturday's clash seemingly offers their best opportunity to improve that disappointing record.

It's also worth noting that Arsenal did claim a 2-0 victory over City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup - a competition they went on to win - at the Emirates in July.

Tip: Double chance — Draw or Arsenal @ 7/4 with bet365

Sterling to step up

Raheem Sterling withdrew from England duty due to a hamstring injury but he is expected to be given the nod to face Arsenal.

His likely availability is a major boost for Guardiola with Aguero and Jesus set to be on the sidelines through injury for a little while yet.

Sterling is more than capable of playing through the middle in a false nine role and boasts a fine record against the north Londoners.

The 25-year-old netted in each of City's wins against Arsenal in the Premier League last season, including the opener in the 3-0 triumph on home soil.

He has only scored one league goal so far this season, breaking the deadlock at Elland Road last time out, but looks City's most likely candidate to get on the scoresheet this weekend.

Tip: Raheem Sterling first goalscorer @ 7/2 with bet365

Bellerin to go in the book

Hector Bellerin is already well on his way to a spell on the sidelines due to his ill-discipline in the Premier League this season.

The Spanish full-back has picked up two yellow cards from four appearances and looks an attractive option to have his name taken at the Etihad.

His bookings so far have come in fixtures against Fulham and Liverpool - both away from home.

Indeed, Chris Kavanagh was the referee at Craven Cottage and he will be the man in the middle when Arsenal head to City.

With the likes of Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and Ferran Torres to contend with, Bellerin could be in for a tough evening.

Tip: Hector Bellerin to be booked @ 9/2 with bet365
