Eve Pollard approached the menopause like she approaches most things, with a no-nonsense attitude. She shares her views on why talking about the menopause is key to preparing for what's ahead.

She already knew a lot about the medical aspect of the process and knew that it was a natural occurrence she couldn’t just walk away from. She chose to make the best of what followed.

Eve drew strength from her children and her grandchildren as well as experience, taking the opinion that throughout her life she had probably gone through bigger and harder things.

But she did realise it was time to shake some old habits, including going to bed with make-up on and not looking after her skin.

The Telegraph has teamed up with Vichy Neovadiol to encourage high-profile women to reveal what steps they took to help smooth their menopause journey. Over the next few weeks, influential women who are going through the menopause, or have come out the other side, will share their experiences and tips.
