How to nail it

With the pandemic drawing attention to hand hygiene, now might be the perfect time to up your nail-care game.

To take things to the next level, invest in a nail file to smooth edges (Leighton Denny’s is unusual in that it allows you to file back and forth without damaging the nails); toughen nails with a hardener (handy if your hands come in for a battering  at work or in the garden); and use a hand  and nail cream (especially useful right now given that alcohol-based sanitisers can leave nails brittle).

If you’re feeling brave, finish things off with Chanel’s new nail polish aimed at men. Transparent with a matt finish, it makes your nails look like they’ve been professionally buffed. It comes in black too, if you’re feeling really brave or are having a midlife crisis.
