Three top tips for taking the perfect selfie with Davis Factor, photographer and founder of Smashbox Cosmetics.

1.      Keep your distance: “Sometimes people take selfies that are super close – and what happens is that their face becomes really distorted and weird,” warns Davis. Instead, “kind of hold your phone away from you a little bit, and then …crop it afterwards.”

2.      Turn on the Flash:  Avoid taking snaps of yourself under direct sunlight, “you’ll going to see shadows down you,” warns Davis. “My tip is to take is to step into the shade.”  Turn the flash on though, as Davis says, “the flash will light your face, and will adjust the background so that you have that beautiful glowing background.”

3.      Make-Up Matte: “I think it's really important to obviously have your make-up on right,” warns Davis. “Too moist, or too wet sometimes that flash will hit it and it blows out part of your skin – leave yourself kind of matte.”
