In search of a planet-friendly shave?

Men have had the option of going ethical with their skincare for a while  now, but until recently, razors were a major sticking point in terms of sustainability, with millions ending up in landfill every year.

But with a Mintel study revealing a third of us would like to switch to eco-friendlier versions, companies are falling over themselves to offer sustainable shaving gear.

Bamboo is a great alternative to plastic, while old-fashioned metal safety razors – my favourite option – offer the least waste and will last for years (store used blades safely in a blade-disposal tin before taking to your local recycling centre).

If you must use disposables (and they’re still handy for travel), then Wilkinson Sword’s new Xtreme 3 Eco green razors are your man since they’re made of 95 per cent recycled plastic, which can itself be recycled. Eco-friendly packing seals the planet-saving deal.
